Activities in this Module:

  1. Click Play to review Positive Interdependence Video. Click on the following link to download the PDF transcript.

  2. Discussion Forum - After listening to the 4 minute Review/video participants are asked to reflect on a personal situation where they experienced a Win-Win resolution to a problem.  It may have been with a spouse or a colleague or a student. Post your reflection on the Discussion Forum and comment on at least two of your team members posts.

  3. If one of the team members cannot recall a Win-Win resolution then please recall a situation that could have been resolved with empathy or by social skills that could have resulted in a Win-Win solution. Post this new version of the recollection. This assignment will be considered complete when all the team members post and comment on each others posts.

  4. Positive Interdependence Quiz

Summary - Teachers should stress "we, not me" to students and explain that, as the Johnson's point out in their book, teachers must enlighten students with three obligations: "1)You are responsible for learning the assigned material, 2)you are responsible for making sure that all other members of your group learn the assigned material, and 3) you are responsible for making sure that all other class members successfully learn the assigned material." (see Johnson & Johnson, 1992b, 1992c). In essence, everyone in the classroom becomes a teacher.
